Other treatments

What is not offered, and what is referred

Operations, including surgical facelifts and implants, are not offered: double eyelid surgery and ptosis repair go to a plastic surgery specialist, and skin disease needing a dermatologist is referred. Titanium lifting and Sofwave are not offered (the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift and Time Freeze Laser LCLR® are discussed instead), nor are yellow or pulsed-dye lasers (R2 Glow is used) or Sylfirm X (Secret RF is used).

Medical aesthetics in Singapore: how this practice works

This is a doctor-led practice on Orchard Road. The consultation starts with the structure of the face or the condition of the skin, not a treatment menu, and every option is explained with its limits. One of them is always no treatment.

A conservative, natural-looking approach

Natural is the most used word in aesthetic medicine and the least defined. Here it means treating the layer that has changed (skin, fat, fascia or bone support) with the smallest step that addresses it, imaging earlier filler before adding more, and keeping the option of doing nothing. Start with the doctor: the name on the Singapore Medical Council register should belong to the person who will treat you. Postgraduate qualifications, and invitations to share clinical expertise with other physicians, say more about depth than the title. A six-point check before you book

  1. The doctor on the SMC register is the doctor who examines and treats you.
  2. The first visit is an assessment, with no treatment expected on the day (the consultation process).
  3. Every product and device is HSA-registered, and you are told which one is used (what you can ask to see).
  4. You hear what the treatment cannot do, and no treatment is one of the options.
  5. Fees are given in writing after the examination, not advertised as a price.

Aesthetic clinic in Singapore: questions about the practice

Is an aesthetic doctor in Singapore the same as a dermatologist?

No. A dermatologist is a specialist accredited in skin disease. An aesthetic doctor is a registered medical practitioner whose practice is aesthetic medicine, which is not a recognised specialty in Singapore. Dr Sin Yong practises as an aesthetic doctor and refers skin disease that needs a dermatologist.

Who performs the treatment at an aesthetic doctor's clinic in Singapore?

The registered doctor should perform any injectable, laser or prescription treatment. At Dr Sin Yong's practice he performs every assessment and every treatment himself, including ultrasound imaging of earlier filler before correction. Ask any clinic whether the doctor named on its website is the person in the room.

Is there downtime after Dr Sin Yong's treatments?

It depends on the treatment. The Time Freeze Laser LCLR® has no redness, no downtime. Recovery after the other protocols depends on the settings and the area, and is discussed at consultation.
