This hub lists every page on drsinyong.com about hair: why it thins, how the type of loss is confirmed with trichoscopy, the medical treatments that slow it, and the regenerative options Dr Sin Yong offers for follicles that are miniaturising but still present. Hair that is gone needs a transplant, and the pages say so plainly.
Pick the row closest to what you are seeing. Each one points to the page to read first and the page to read next. The type of hair loss is confirmed before anything is chosen, because the same thinning can have different causes.
| Your question | Start with | Then read | What decides the route |
|---|---|---|---|
| My hairline is receding | receding hairline | male hair loss treatment | A maturing hairline is told apart from pattern loss; Norwood stage and trichoscopy |
| My parting is widening | female hair thinning | female hair loss treatment | Pattern loss versus telogen effluvium, with blood work first |
| Hair is suddenly shedding all over | sudden hair shedding | blood work for hair loss | The trigger is looked for: a fever, childbirth, a crash diet or stress |
| A smooth, round bald patch | alopecia areata | hair loss treatment by diagnosis | An autoimmune pattern that is assessed on its own path |
| A flaking, itchy or oily scalp | dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis | hair loss treatment by diagnosis | The scalp condition is treated, and shedding that tracks the flares is reviewed |
| A zone with no hair left | hair transplant, assessed honestly | transplant vs non-surgical restoration | Regenerative treatment needs living follicles; zones without them are assessed for a transplant and referred |
These pages are not in the lists below. One was added in October 2026 and covers hair as part of a wider change; the others are articles that answer a narrower question than the guides above.
Finding out which kind of hair loss it is. Pattern loss, shedding and patchy loss look alike in the mirror and need different plans, so Dr Sin Yong examines the scalp with trichoscopy and orders blood tests where the history suggests a cause.
It is for thinning scalp with follicles still present, not bald scalp. Where follicles are gone, a transplant is discussed instead.
