If the lower face looks wide because of earlier filler, see chin and jaw filler dissolving.
A soft lower-face fullness can be jowl fat rather than sagging.

A V shape face in Singapore is not one treatment. The taper from cheekbone to chin is set by five things: the jaw angle, the masseter, the chin, the jawline between them, and whether laxity has blurred that line. Dr Sin Yong identifies which is the limiting factor before any route is chosen, because treating the wrong structure changes little.
Part of Face →
A V shape face in Singapore is read from the whole lower face, not from the jaw alone. The clench test shows whether the masseter is widening it, chin filler on bone changes the taper without reducing width, and a softened jawline is weighed for VF Lift – Vertical Facelift or HIFU. No injectable or device narrows the jaw bone, and buccal fat removal is surgery, referred on.
Search for a v shape face in Singapore and most of what comes back is a single procedure sold as the answer. In clinic the question is reversed: what is stopping this particular face from tapering? Five structures decide it, and each has its own test.

The masseter is the chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw. It enlarges with use, so habitual clenching, night-time grinding and a preference for firm foods all build it. An enlarged masseter widens the lower face from the outside, below the ear. Clench your teeth and place your fingers at the angle of the jaw: a firm bulge means the muscle is part of the picture. The square jaw and masseter bulk guide covers the bite test in detail.
A short or set-back chin makes the lower face look square or round even when the jaw is modest, because the taper has nowhere to end. Chin projection and length are read in profile against the nose and lips, and the chin projection filler page explains how that assessment is done.
Between the angle and the chin, the jawline can be sharp or soft. Bone resorption, fat descent and natural anatomy all blur it. A soft jawline reads as a rounder face even when neither the masseter nor the chin is at fault.
Once skin and the deeper support layer have descended, the jawline is interrupted by jowls. Here nothing has grown; the outline has slipped. Laxity is checked by pinch and recoil, and by how the jawline changes when the tissue is gently repositioned.
Pinchable fat along the jowl and under the chin is superficial. The buccal fat pad is deep, sits higher in the mid-cheek, and does not change with clenching or, for most people, with weight loss. The two are treated differently, and one of them is surgery. The buccal fat and the round face guide sets out why Dr Sin Yong works frame-first rather than removing the pad.
Once the limiting structure is named, the route follows. The table lists the approaches used at Dr Sin Yong's practice and the one that is referred on. Every treatment is performed by Dr Sin Yong after an in-person assessment.

| What is limiting the taper | How it is checked | Route weighed | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enlarged masseter | Clench test: firm bulge at the jaw angle | Masseter injections (jaw BTX): botulinum toxin so the muscle contracts less and reduces in bulk | Does not change bone, fat or laxity |
| Short or set-back chin | Profile view: chin against the nose and lips | Chin filler on bone at the chin point or lower border; firm HA, or CaHA or PCL where bone support is wanted | Does not reduce width or remove fat under the chin |
| Soft, undefined jawline | Examination of the jaw border, jowls and skin quality | Jawline filler along the angle and body to add structure | Does not slim a wide face; it defines the frame |
| Laxity and early jowling | Pinch and recoil; jawline with tissue repositioned | VF Lift – Vertical Facelift on Volnewmer monopolar radiofrequency, planned zone by zone; HIFU on the Ultraformer MPT where focused ultrasound suits the tissue depth | Does not replace lost volume or reduce a full fat pad |
| Compact superficial fat at the jowl or under the chin | Pinch at rest and in expression; ultrasound where fat and filler need telling apart | Sculpting mode of Time Freeze Laser LCLR®; double chin options for the submental area | Does not reach the deep buccal pad |
| Deep buccal fat | Deep, un-pinchable mid-cheek fullness in a lean face | Usually observation; removal is surgery, referred to a plastic surgery specialist | Cannot be reversed, and the pad deflates naturally with age |
| Wide jaw bone | Width that does not change on clenching or pinching | Proportion work on chin and jawline; the bone itself is not changed | No injectable or device alters bone |
Most faces combine two of these. A wide masseter with a short chin is common in East and Southeast Asian faces, and so is a modest jaw whose outline has softened with laxity. That is why the plan is a ranking of contributors rather than a menu.
“I do not treat a V shape. I treat whichever structure is stopping the face from tapering, and I will tell you if that structure is bone.”
Dr Sin YongOn V shape face treatment planning
When more than one structure is involved, the order matters. Dr Sin Yong plans in sequence so that each step is assessed on its own before the next is added.

Doing these in the reverse order is a common reason for an overfilled lower face: filler placed to sharpen a jawline that was blurred by laxity adds weight to tissue that is already descending. The face slimming guide sets out the by-cause logic in full, and the chin filler and V-shape guide covers the chin and masseter pairing.
Being clear about limits is part of the plan. Three things sit outside what injectables and energy devices do.
A V shape jawline also depends on symmetry. One masseter is often larger than the other, and a chin can sit slightly off the midline; both are mapped at assessment so that treatment does not sharpen an asymmetry that was previously soft. The facial asymmetry guide covers how this is read.
The same five structures are assessed, but the target differs.

Women who ask for a V shape usually want a narrower jaw angle and a chin that tapers. Masseter reduction, where the muscle is the cause, and chin length or projection are the usual pairing. Over-reducing the masseter can hollow the area below the cheekbone, so the dose is set to the muscle rather than to a template.
Men more often want a defined jawline than a narrow one. A masseter that gives the jaw its angle is often left alone, and the work goes into chin projection and jawline structure so that the lower face reads as angular rather than slim. The aesthetic concerns in men page sets out how planning is adjusted.
In both, clenching and night-time grinding are asked about, because a masseter that is treated while the habit continues will rebuild. The jaw clenching and face shape guide explains the link.
Treatment is planned individually, so the plan rather than a fixed list decides the cost. Four things shape it: which structures are contributing and in what order; whether one modality or several are needed; whether the work is staged across visits or done together; and how much of the lower face is involved. A figure quoted before assessment would not reflect your face, and fees are set out at consultation before anything is agreed. The how fees are quoted page explains the approach.
It suits people whose lower face is wider, rounder or softer than they would like and who accept a staged, assessed plan. It is better to wait during pregnancy or breastfeeding, an active skin infection, or within the recovery window of recent lower-face treatment elsewhere. A marked skeletal discrepancy or a bite problem is discussed before any filler is considered, and may be referred.
After masseter injections, chewing feels normal and the muscle softens gradually; firm pressure over the area is avoided at first. After chin or jawline filler, mild swelling and tenderness settle, and the area is not massaged unless Dr Sin Yong asks. After radiofrequency or focused ultrasound lifting, warmth and mild redness settle, and sun protection continues as usual. Specific instructions are given at the visit, and the aftercare hub collects them by treatment. Any unusual pain, blanching or change in colour after filler is reported the same day.

WhatsApp Dr Sin Yong →or use the enquiry formWhere the masseter is the cause of the width, yes. Clench your teeth: if a firm bulge appears at the angle of the jaw, reducing that muscle narrows the lower face. If the width is bone, fat or laxity, the muscle treatment changes little, which is why the clench test and a profile view come before anything is planned.
By finding what is limiting the taper and treating that. Masseter injections where the chewing muscle is enlarged, chin filler on bone where the chin is short, jawline filler where the border is soft, and radiofrequency or focused ultrasound lifting where laxity has blurred the line. Bone width and deep buccal fat are not changed without surgery.
Partly. Soft tissue over the bone can be reduced where it is muscle, and the chin can be brought forward so the face tapers more in profile, but the bony angle stays. Dr Sin Yong says this at the first visit rather than treating and hoping, and plans proportion work around the bone instead.
It reduces deep mid-cheek fullness, which is a different structure from the jaw angle and chin. It is surgery, referred to a plastic surgery specialist, cannot be reversed, and the pad deflates naturally with age. Dr Sin Yong's approach defines the frame around the fullness first, and the round face guide explains why.
It depends on which route is used. Masseter reduction is temporary and rebuilds if clenching continues; filler is gradually absorbed at a rate that varies by product and person; collagen remodelling after lifting is reviewed over time. Timing of any repeat is set at review, not in advance.
The plan. Which structures are contributing, whether one modality or several are used, whether the work is staged, and how much of the lower face is involved. No figure is quoted before assessment because it would not reflect your face; fees are set out at consultation.
