Why the Jawline Matters
The jawline forms the lower frame of the face. With age, bone resorption, fat descent and skin laxity contribute to a softened, less defined jaw. Even in younger patients, anatomical variation in jaw width or projection can create a less defined appearance amenable to filler enhancement.
How Jawline Filler Works
Firm, high-G' HA fillers or biostimulators (Radiesse or Ellanse) are injected along the jawline — at the angle, along the body and at the chin — to create structural support and definition. Product is placed on or near the periosteum for longevity and precision.
Jawline Filler vs. BTX for Jaw Slimming
Jawline filler adds definition and angularity. BTX injected into the masseter slims a wide lower face by reducing masseter bulk. Many patients benefit from both: BTX to slim the masseter, filler to define the underlying bone structure. Together they create a sharper, more defined jaw.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Jawline filler works best in patients with adequate skin quality and mild to moderate tissue descent. Those with significant jowling may benefit more from lifting treatments (VF Lift, thread lift) before or instead of filler. Dr Sin Yong assesses the right approach at consultation.
How Long Does It Last?
Firm fillers along the bony jawline last longer than softer products — typically 12–24 months for HA, up to 3–4 years for Ellanse. Maintenance sessions sustain definition over time.

Radiesse is the preferred product — its structural cohesivity provides definition along the mandible without the lateral spread that can occur with softer HA fillers.
A single session is usually sufficient for initial jawline definition. A touch-up at 4–6 weeks refines asymmetries. Maintenance every 18–24 months.
Yes — jawline filler defines the mandibular border, reduces jowl shadows by filling the pre-jowl sulcus, and creates a more angular lower face. Combined with masseter BTX it is very effective for lower face contouring.
The mandibular region has a good safety profile. The main risk is inadvertent injection into the facial artery. Dr Sin Yong uses careful aspiration and anatomically informed placement.
