VF Lift results come from your own tissue responding to radiofrequency heat: collagen contracts and remodels where Lift and Sculpt were set, and in Restore zones the response builds gradually from the patient's own fat. Nothing is added, so any change is your tissue. How much changes depends on the face, the zones chosen and the person, and it is read at a review.
Part of VF Lift – Vertical Facelift →
VF Lift results start with heat placed where it is planned. The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift runs on Volnewmer, a 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency platform. Current passes from the tip through the tissue to a return pad, and the tissue's resistance turns it into heat in the dermis and the fibrous septa beneath it, while water cools the surface. Heated collagen fibres contract and then remodel. Because each zone is set to a different mode, the response differs by zone:

Nothing is injected, so there is no product to overfill, migrate or form lumps; whatever changes is your own tissue. How much changes varies between people and with age.
VF Lift before and after photographs are a common search, and this site does not show them. Any such image deserves caution: a change of lighting or a slight turn of the head alters a jawline more than most energy treatments do, pictures taken soon after treatment show swelling rather than remodelling, and weight, posture and make-up all change the contour.
What matters is your own record. At consultation, photographs are taken for your medical record under the same conditions, at rest and in animation, from the front and both sides. At review the face is photographed the same way and compared, which is a fairer test of what the VF Lift did for you than an image of someone else.
“The warmth you feel straight after the VF Lift is heat. The result is your own tissue responding afterwards, and I read it at the review, not in the mirror on the way home.”
Dr Sin YongOn VF Lift results
VF Lift results are decided mostly by the face being treated and the choices made for it. The table sets out the factors that matter.
| Factor | Why it matters | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Degree of laxity | Contraction has a ceiling set by how much excess there is | Early to moderate looseness is the target; heavy redundant skin is referred |
| Which layer leads | A jowl can be a fat pad, loose skin or a heavy mobile fold | The first two are radiofrequency questions; the third is not |
| Tissue thickness | Thin zones are heated more conservatively to avoid a dent | A lean face is planned with restraint and Restore where hollow |
| Earlier filler | Heating over product treats the wrong material | Hyaluronic acid causing puffiness is dissolved first |
| Age and skin quality | The collagen response is smaller in older or sun-damaged skin | Expectations are set to the skin, not the calendar |
| Weight stability | Gain stretches the envelope; loss empties it | A stable weight protects what remodelling achieves |
Operator decisions sit inside every row: which mode goes over which zone, how energy is set over thin skin and bone, and how heat feedback is followed pulse by pulse. Dr Sin Yong maps the face and performs every pass himself. The energy has been studied with three-dimensional imaging and wrinkle analysis on this frequency and cooling design (Kim 2024), although published studies use their own settings and cannot predict one face.
When someone sees little change after the VF Lift, the reason is usually one of these:
The honest answer to whether it suits you is given before treatment; see VF Lift suitability. Its trade-offs against focused ultrasound are compared on VF Lift vs HIFU.
The review is timed to the gradual collagen response, not booked to repeat the treatment by default. Dr Sin Yong examines each zone, asks about sensation and movement, and compares the face with the photographs in your medical record. Three questions guide it:
The protocol is then adjusted zone by zone: a zone added, left alone or set to a different mode, rather than repeated to a preset. Any staged combination, such as focused ultrasound on another day or Time Freeze Laser LCLR® used together with the VF Lift for puffiness, is decided then. Referral for a surgical opinion is also a possible outcome.
A blister, crust or open area, a new dent over the cheek, temple or jaw, numbness that persists, or any change in facial movement is not part of a normal result and should be reported the same day. The VF Lift aftercare page lists the warning signs, and Volnewmer side effects explains why each happens.

Tightening is the first action in Lift zones, and in Restore zones any change builds gradually from your own fat. A review is timed to allow for that response, and the face is compared with your record photographs.
For laxity, puffiness or a soft-tissue hollow in a face that suits radiofrequency, it is directed at exactly those changes, and monopolar radiofrequency has been studied for many years. It does not remove heavy skin, replace bone or move tissue on the day. How much changes varies between people and with age, which is why suitability is decided before treatment.
Often because remodelling is still under way, or because the main concern was not one radiofrequency reaches, such as a bony deficit, platysma bands or heavy skin. Energy may also have been kept conservative in a thin face. A review against your record photographs shows what has changed and whether a different approach suits what remains.
No product is injected, so there is no product to overfill, migrate or form lumps, and any change is your own tissue. That removes the risks that come from product, but it does not remove the heat-related risks of radiofrequency, such as a blister or a dent over thin skin. How a face looks afterwards depends on the plan and on how that face responds.
No duration can be promised. How long any change lasts depends on the degree of laxity, your tissue, the zones treated, ageing, sun exposure and weight change. Daily sunscreen, a stable weight and not smoking protect what remodelling has achieved, and maintenance is planned individually at review rather than to a fixed timetable.
