VF Lift vs Oligio compares two monopolar radiofrequency treatments that heat the same layer at the same frequency, 6.78 MHz. Oligio is a device made by WONTECH in Korea. The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is Dr Sin Yong's protocol on the CLASSYS Volnewmer, planned zone by zone with Lift, Sculpt and Restore modes. Oligio is not offered here.

VF Lift vs Oligio is not a contest between two kinds of energy. Both are monopolar radiofrequency at 6.78 MHz. An alternating current leaves a single tip, passes through the skin and the fat beneath it, and returns through a pad on the body. Tissue resists the current, and the resistance makes heat as a volume rather than at a point. Collagen in the dermis and in the fibrous septa that run through the fat contracts, then remodels over time.

The regulatory trail says the same thing. Oligio was cleared in the United States in 2022 with Thermage FLX as its predicate. Volnewmer, the CLASSYS platform the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift runs on, was cleared in 2024 with the same predicate. That route means the authority accepted each as doing substantially the same thing as Thermage FLX.
The engineering differs in cooling and tips. Oligio's filing lists a cooling gas and coupling fluid, with vibration in the handpiece. Volnewmer runs water continuously through the tip, with tips from 0.25 cm² for small zones such as the eyes to 16 cm² for the body. The three-way platform detail is on Oligio vs Thermage vs Volnewmer.
Oligio is a device. The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is a protocol: a set of decisions Dr Sin Yong makes about where heat goes, how much, and in which direction. He developed it and presented it at the CLASSYS APAC 2026 International Conference. It uses no focused ultrasound.
The face is mapped into zones, and each is heated along a vertical vector with one of three aims. Lift tightens loose skin at the jawline and nasolabial folds. Sculpt flattens areas that pouch or bulge, such as fullness beside the nasolabial fold. Restore is customised to hollow areas and is used to stimulate the patient's own fat to regenerate: the temples, the forehead, under the eyes, the lateral cheeks and the prejowl sulcus. Nothing is injected, so there is no filler to overfill, migrate or form lumps, and any change builds gradually and varies between people.
Oligio could in principle carry a zone-by-zone plan too. It is not the platform in this clinic, and nothing on this page is a claim about results on it.
“Oligio and Volnewmer share a frequency. What I decide is which zone needs lifting, which needs sculpting and which should be restored, not which badge is on the machine.”
Dr Sin YongOn Oligio and the VF Lift
Oligio is not offered here. Where monopolar radiofrequency suits, Dr Sin Yong uses the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift on Volnewmer or Thermage FLX.
| Option | What it does | Suits | Not for | Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VF Lift – Vertical Facelift | Volnewmer monopolar radiofrequency along vertical vectors; Lift, Sculpt and Restore set zone by zone | Laxity with puffiness or hollowing; lean faces; the neck | An implanted electronic device; heavy redundant skin | VF Lift – Vertical Facelift |
| Oligio (not offered here) | 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency heating of the dermis and septa | Early to moderate laxity in skin that still recoils | Fat pads, lost volume, heavy jowls, an implant in the field | Oligio guide |
| Thermage FLX | Monopolar radiofrequency through face, eye and body tips | Dermal laxity in a face that has kept its volume | Fat, hollowing or settled product | Thermage FLX |
| Time Freeze Laser LCLR® | Dual-wavelength laser at several depths; Sculpting mode for sagged fat and settled filler | Laxity with compact fat or a heavy lower face | Freshly tanned skin; an already lean zone | Time Freeze Laser LCLR® |
| Ultherapy or HIFU | Focused ultrasound points at set depths, down to the SMAS | Structural descent in a face with normal fullness | Lean or hollow faces | Ultherapy |
The heat-related risks are shared across monopolar devices: redness, warmth and mild swelling as expected effects, and less commonly a blister, a tender spot, altered sensation or a slight dent over thin skin. Anything that does not settle is reviewed by the doctor.
The lean face is where the plan matters most. Heat that reaches fat which is not the target can make a slim face look more hollow, and that applies to every monopolar and focused-ultrasound device. On the VF Lift, hollow zones are set to Restore rather than tightened, so a slim face is not treated the way a full one is. Dr Sin Yong does not use Ultherapy or HIFU on lean faces; he uses the VF Lift there.
At assessment he examines the face at rest and in animation, palpates skin and fat thickness in each zone, checks recoil, and maps earlier filler with ultrasound where it is suspected. Hyaluronic acid filler causing puffiness is dissolved before heat. Where the lower face is heavy, Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is weighed, and it can be used together with the VF Lift on the same face. Fees follow the plan; see how fees are quoted.

Oligio is a device; the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is Dr Sin Yong's protocol on Volnewmer, another 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency platform. The two heat the same layer. What differs is cooling, tips and the zone-by-zone plan, with Lift, Sculpt and Restore set per zone. Which suits a face is decided at assessment. Oligio is not offered here.
Both are Korean 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency platforms cleared in the United States with Thermage FLX as predicate. Oligio, from WONTECH, lists a cooling gas and coupling fluid. Volnewmer, from CLASSYS, runs continuous water cooling through tips from 0.25 to 16 cm². On Volnewmer, the treatment here is the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift.
Oligio X is the newer Oligio model, cleared in the United States in 2024 in the same product class, so it is a newer generation of the same kind of device. The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is a protocol, not a model: Dr Sin Yong's zone-by-zone plan on Volnewmer. A newer model does not change who monopolar radiofrequency suits.
A thin face needs caution with any heating device, because heat that reaches fat which is not the target can deepen hollows. On the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift, hollow zones are set to Restore, used to stimulate the patient's own fat, rather than tightened. Dr Sin Yong chooses the VF Lift for lean faces and does not plan Ultherapy or HIFU there.
Comfort varies between people more than between these devices. Both are felt as heat building under the tip, and both cool the surface, Oligio with gas and fluid, Volnewmer with continuous water. Energy is given pass by pass, guided by your report of heat, and settings are adjusted for the area. How comfort is managed is discussed at consultation.
Usually, once the skin has settled. Bring the device name, the date and how your skin responded, because a recent heating treatment changes the timing and settings of what follows. Dr Sin Yong then assesses whether the face needs lifting, sculpting or restoring in each zone, and whether radiofrequency is the right tool at all.
