Time Freeze Laser LCLR® vs Fotona 4D compares two non-surgical laser lifting protocols that share one wavelength, 1064 nm. Fotona 4D runs four Er:YAG and Nd:YAG modes, one of them inside the mouth. Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is Dr Sin Yong's dual-wavelength 755 nm and 1064 nm protocol with a Sculpting mode. Fotona 4D is not one of the protocols described on this site.

Time Freeze Laser LCLR® vs Fotona 4D compares two protocols rather than two machines. Fotona 4D runs on a Fotona platform that houses a 2,940 nm erbium YAG and a 1,064 nm Nd:YAG laser. It uses each wavelength twice, in four steps: SmoothLiftin, an intraoral Er:YAG pass in SMOOTH mode; FRAC3, short Nd:YAG pulses; PIANO, long Nd:YAG pulses that heat the dermis in bulk; and SupErficial, a light Er:YAG peel.

Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is Dr Sin Yong's protocol on a long-pulsed 755 nm alexandrite and 1,064 nm Nd:YAG platform from LUTRONIC. The two wavelengths are used together, directing energy at the superficial, mid and deep dermis in the same visit. It is applied externally, and the skin surface is left intact.
The overlap is 1,064 nm. The PIANO step, bulk heating with a long Nd:YAG pulse, is the part of Fotona 4D that most resembles what Time Freeze does with its 1,064 nm arm. The rest differs: Fotona 4D adds an intraoral step and a surface peel; Time Freeze adds 755 nm and a Sculpting mode. Each Fotona mode is explained on Fotona 4D in Singapore.
The practical distinction Dr Sin Yong draws is between conditioning and removal. Fotona 4D conditions. It warms the lining of the mouth and the tissue behind the nasolabial fold from the inside, heats the dermis, and refreshes the surface, so collagen contracts and remodels. It is most sensible in a face whose laxity is early and whose folds come from thinning rather than descent.
Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is built to target the excess and take it away over a planned series. That excess can be loose skin, a layer of sagged fat along the jowl or under the chin, or settled filler that cannot be dissolved, mapped with ultrasound first. This is why it is the protocol for a puffy or overfilled face rather than a lean one. Nothing is injected, so there is no filler to overfill, migrate or form lumps.
So the question is not which laser is stronger. It is whether your face needs conditioning, or something taken away.
“Fotona 4D warms what is there. Time Freeze is built to take away what should not be. I decide which one a face needs by its layers, not by the brand.”
Dr Sin YongOn Fotona 4D and Time Freeze Laser LCLR®
Fotona 4D is not one of the protocols described on this site. The table sets it beside the options Dr Sin Yong uses for lifting.
| Option | What it does | Suits | Not for | Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Time Freeze Laser LCLR® | Dual-wavelength laser at several dermal depths; Sculpting mode for sagged fat and settled product | Laxity with compact fat; a puffy or heavy lower face; loose neck skin | Freshly tanned skin; an already lean zone; marked skin excess | Time Freeze Laser LCLR® |
| Fotona 4D (not described here as a protocol) | Intraoral Er:YAG, two Nd:YAG modes and a light Er:YAG peel | Early laxity; shallow folds from thinning; crepey perioral skin | A descended cheek or heavy jowl; fat or settled filler | Fotona 4D guide |
| VF Lift – Vertical Facelift | Volnewmer monopolar radiofrequency along vertical vectors; Lift, Sculpt and Restore | Lean faces; laxity with hollowing; early laxity with thinning | An implanted electronic device | VF Lift – Vertical Facelift |
| Fillers or a biostimulator | Restore support where volume is lost | A bony deficit or a hollow lifting does not reach | Laxity or a heavy face | Lifting without fillers |
| Surgical referral | Repositions tissue and removes skin | Marked skin excess | Skin quality on its own | Sagging face treatment |
In darker skin, the Er:YAG surface peel is the Fotona step most likely to be reduced or left out, because it is the step that disturbs the surface. With Time Freeze there is no redness and no downtime; less often there is tenderness where fat or filler excess was targeted, or temporary darkening, more likely in darker skin and after sun; rarely a burn, blister or more fat loss than intended.
Dr Sin Yong is a Global Key Opinion Leader for Fotona, holding the StarWalker PQX and StarWalker 4S Distinguished Practitioner designations, and he is invited to share his clinical expertise with other doctors on Fotona and other platforms. At this practice Fotona technology is used as the StarWalker picosecond platform, alongside T2 Laser Tattoo Removal on the DEKA TORO for tattoos. Fotona 4D is not one of the protocols described on this site; details are on his Global Key Opinion Leader page.
A request for Fotona 4D is treated as a request for non-surgical lifting. He examines the face in profile and in animation, pinches the skin for recoil, palpates skin and fat thickness, and maps earlier filler with ultrasound. Early laxity with thinning folds is a conditioning problem, which the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift addresses here. A puffy or overfilled face is a removal problem, for Time Freeze Laser LCLR®. The two can be used together on one face. A descended cheek or heavy jowl is referred rather than heated harder. Fees follow the plan; see how fees are quoted.

Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is Dr Sin Yong's dual-wavelength protocol built to take away excess: loose skin, compact fat or settled filler. They overlap at 1,064 nm. The face is examined first, and the laser follows the finding.
No. Fotona 4D uses 2,940 nm Er:YAG and 1,064 nm Nd:YAG in four modes, with an intraoral step and a surface peel. Time Freeze Laser LCLR® uses long-pulsed 755 nm alexandrite and 1,064 nm Nd:YAG, applied externally, with a Sculpting mode for sagged fat and settled product. They share one wavelength and the idea of bulk dermal heating, not a protocol.
It depends on why the fold is deep. A shallow fold from a thinned lip and cheek lining is the problem Fotona 4D's intraoral step is directed at. A fold driven by mid-face descent, or by sagged fat beside it, is a lifting and removal question: Time Freeze lifts from above and its Sculpting mode can target the fat. Filling from below is not the starting point.
Time Freeze Laser LCLR® has no redness and no downtime; you can return to work and make-up straight after the session. After Fotona 4D the face is usually warm and pink, and the SupErficial peel step can add a short phase of fine flaking. Recovery after any laser varies with settings and skin type, and blistering or lasting redness should be reviewed.
Fotona 4D conditions the dermis; it is not built to reduce fat. A double chin or jowl that is heavy with compact fat is what the Sculpting mode of Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is directed at, while the dermis is tightened. For a double chin Dr Sin Yong also uses the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift. A heavy, mobile jowl with skin excess is referred.
As a Fotona Key Opinion Leader he is invited to share clinical expertise with other doctors, and the practice also holds a Fotona StarWalker picosecond platform, while tattoo removal is led by T2 Laser Tattoo Removal on the DEKA TORO. For lifting, the protocols described on this site are the ones he developed: Time Freeze Laser LCLR® and the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift. A request for Fotona 4D is assessed as a request for non-surgical lifting.
