How the change develops when nothing is injected is explained on Time Freeze results.

Time Freeze Laser LCLR® vs fillers is a choice between opposite directions. Time Freeze is Dr Sin Yong's dual-wavelength laser protocol: it tightens lax skin and, in its Sculpting mode, takes away compact fat and excess product. Filler adds volume. For a face that is lax but already full or heavy, adding is usually the wrong direction. No redness, no downtime with Time Freeze.

Time Freeze Laser LCLR® vs fillers is not a comparison of two ways to do the same thing. One tightens and takes away; the other adds. Which one fits depends on whether the face has become loose and heavy, or has genuinely emptied.
Time Freeze Laser LCLR® runs on a long-pulsed 755 nm and 1064 nm platform. The two wavelengths have different absorption profiles and are used together, so heat reaches several depths of the skin in one pass. Collagen contracts during the session and remodels afterwards. LCLR® stands for Laser Collagen Lipo Remodelling: collagen remodelling for laxity, and lipo-remodelling in the Sculpting mode, which Dr Sin Yong applies to compact fat in zones he selects, such as the jowl, under the chin and beside the nasolabial fold.
Fillers work the other way. Hyaluronic acid adds a gel that occupies space and holds water. Collagen stimulators, such as CaHA, PCL and PLLA, add product and prompt collagen to form around it. Either can restore support where structure is missing. Neither tightens lax skin, and both add weight to the area they are placed in.
The table compares the two arms of Time Freeze with the main filler types, and adds the VF Lift Restore mode for areas that have truly hollowed.
| Option | What it does | Suits | Not for | Page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Time Freeze Laser LCLR®: lifting | Dual-wavelength heat for collagen contraction and remodelling at several depths | Mild to moderate laxity of the jowls, neck, upper-lid and under-eye skin | Marked skin excess; true eyelid ptosis; freshly tanned skin | Time Freeze |
| Time Freeze: Sculpting mode | Takes away compact fat and excess collagen-stimulator product, after ultrasound mapping | A heavy jowl, a double chin, biostimulator overfill | A face that is already lean | Sculpting mode |
| Hyaluronic acid filler | Adds a gel that holds water; can be dissolved | Lips; small structural corrections | A puffy or heavy face; laxity | Dermal fillers |
| CaHA or PCL | Firm support on bone, with a collagen response | A short chin; the nose profile | Soft, mobile areas; anyone wanting it reversible | Chin enhancement |
| PLLA biostimulator | Prompts collagen around the product over time | Diffuse volume loss, chosen with care | Areas prone to nodules; laxity | Collagen stimulators |
| VF Lift – Vertical Facelift: Restore | Radiofrequency used to stimulate your own fat in hollow areas | Temples, lateral cheeks, under-eyes, prejowl sulcus in a lean face | A hollow that is mainly bony | VF Lift |
“Filler adds; the Sculpting mode takes away. When a face is already heavy, I do not add to it.”
Dr Sin YongOn tightening versus filling
Many lower faces look older because they are heavier, not emptier. A compact fat pad along the jaw, fullness beside the nasolabial fold or a soft double chin pulls the contour down. Filler placed nearby to sharpen the jawline or soften the fold adds to that weight. Repeated over the years, it can blur the face further; a review of facial overfilled syndrome lists filler placed to chase lines, in the wrong plane or in ever larger amounts among the causes (Lim 2024).
For this kind of face Dr Sin Yong uses Time Freeze Laser LCLR®. The lifting arm works on the lax dermis, and the Sculpting mode takes away compact fat in the zones he selects. Nothing is injected, so there is no filler to overfill, migrate or form lumps. His rule of thumb is short: lean face, VF Lift; puffy or heavier face, Time Freeze. Many faces have a lean upper half and a heavy lower half, and then the two are sequenced. How the two protocols divide the work is set out on VF Lift vs Time Freeze Laser LCLR®.
Two areas show the difference clearly.

The fold deepens mainly because the mid-face above it descends onto it. Filling the fold pads the place where tissue collects. Time Freeze works on the mid-face tissue that forms the fold, from above. When lifting is addressed first, how much filler, if any, is still wanted for the remaining fold is reassessed once the tissue has responded. More on the fold itself is on nasolabial folds treatment.
A dark or tired under-eye can be a hollow, a fat bag, thin and lax skin, or a mix. Filler in the tear trough is a common request, and it is also where swelling, a bluish tint and migration are most often seen. Time Freeze tightens the fine skin of the lower eyelid, with settings kept conservative around the eye and the eyes shielded. Where the area has truly hollowed, the VF Lift Restore mode is considered before filler. A groove over bone that energy does not reach is the case where conservative filler is still discussed, as on tear trough filler.
A face that has become heavy after filler is not treated with more filler. Dr Sin Yong maps what is there with ultrasound first. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved selectively with hyaluronidase. Collagen stimulators have no dissolving enzyme, so when CaHA, PCL, PLLA or PDLLA has been overdone, the excess and the collagen it produced are remodelled with the Sculpting mode of Time Freeze Laser LCLR®, without an incision. A red, hot, tender or rapidly growing lump is treated medically first. When to dissolve and when to use the laser is compared on hyaluronidase vs Time Freeze Laser LCLR®, and the overfilled face as a whole on pillow face treatment. The broader case for lifting before volume is in face lifting without fillers.

WhatsApp Dr Sin Yong →or use the enquiry formNo. Time Freeze Laser LCLR® tightens lax skin through collagen contraction and remodelling, and its Sculpting mode takes away compact fat and excess product. It does not add volume. Where an area has truly hollowed, Dr Sin Yong considers the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift Restore mode, which is used to stimulate your own fat, before filler.
For some people it is the first option instead. Time Freeze tightens the fine skin of the lower eyelid, which helps where laxity casts the shadow. A true hollow is considered for the VF Lift Restore mode. A fat bag is a different problem again. A groove over bone that energy does not reach is where conservative filler is still discussed. The examination sorts which applies.
It works on a different part of the problem. The fold deepens because the mid-face above it descends, and Time Freeze works on that tissue from above rather than filling the fold from below. Fullness beside the fold can be treated with the Sculpting mode. How much filler, if any, is still wanted is reassessed once the tissue has responded.
It is used on collagen stimulators that have been overdone, such as CaHA, PCL, PLLA and PDLLA, which have no dissolving enzyme. Each deposit is mapped with ultrasound, then the Sculpting mode is used on the excess without an incision. Hyaluronic acid filler is usually dissolved with hyaluronidase instead. A red, hot or rapidly growing lump is treated medically first.
Time Freeze Laser LCLR® has no redness and no downtime; warmth in the treated zones fades, and tenderness can occur where fat or product was targeted. Filler can leave swelling, tenderness or a bruise at the injection points. With Time Freeze, sun protection matters afterwards, especially in darker skin, because temporary darkening is possible.
Sometimes, where the face has both laxity and a structural gap, such as a short chin. The two are sequenced and spaced rather than placed over each other, and recent filler in the treatment zone is declared so that timing can be planned. Filler is kept to the structure that tightening cannot build, and many plans need none.
