Singapore's two favourite skin injectables get compared as though they were rival brands of the same thing. They are not. Profhilo is hyaluronic acid — hydration and biostimulation for skin that has grown thirsty and lax. Rejuran is polynucleotides — repair signalling for skin that is damaged, inflamed or textured. Asking which is 'better' is like asking whether water beats protein; the real question is what your skin currently lacks.

Profhilo is hyaluronic acid in an unusual format: high- and low-molecular-weight chains bonded thermally into 'hybrid cooperative complexes', creating a product that flows and spreads through tissue rather than sitting where placed, hydrating as it goes and nudging fibroblasts toward renewed collagen and elastin production. Rejuran is a different biology altogether: polynucleotides — purified DNA fragments — that act as repair signals, supporting fibroblast function and a calmer, better-organised healing environment. One is fundamentally a moisture-and-stimulation strategy; the other is fundamentally a repair strategy.
“Profhilo answers a thirsty face. Rejuran answers a damaged one. The comparison only makes sense once you know which face you have.”
Dr Sin YongOn matching molecule to problem
Profhilo's home ground is the skin that looks tired and slack rather than damaged: dull, dehydrated, finely crinkling, losing its bounce — commonly from the late thirties onward. Spread across the face from a handful of points, it restores a hydrated fullness and, over weeks, a modest firmness. Rejuran's home ground is skin with a repair problem: post-acne texture, enlarged-pore roughness, sensitivity and redness, thin crepey under-eyes, the general wear of years of inflammation. It refines rather than plumps; its results build quietly across a series of sessions.
The overlap is real but narrower than the marketing suggests. Both improve 'skin quality' on paper; in practice, choosing Profhilo for damaged, textured skin or Rejuran for slack, thirsty skin gives each molecule the wrong brief — and an underwhelmed patient.
Profhilo is the more efficient appointment: a small number of injection points per side, an initial pair of sessions a month apart, then periodic maintenance. Transient bumps at the injection points settle within a day or so. Rejuran is the more granular treatment: many fine intradermal deposits per session, a short series of sessions some weeks apart, with pinpoint marks for a day or two. Neither has meaningful downtime; both are numbed to comfort. Neither replaces the other's maintenance schedule — they are parallel tracks, not interchangeable ones.
They can, and often usefully — hydration-and-laxity and repair-and-texture are different axes, and many faces in their forties need something on both. The combination is sequenced rather than stacked in one sitting, and it is also where budgets deserve honesty: two full protocols cost two protocols. A good assessment ranks which axis is holding your skin back most and starts there, rather than defaulting to 'both' because both exist. Sometimes the answer is also neither — laxity beyond a certain point is a lifting-energy problem, and no skin injectable will substitute.
This comparison sets the two molecules side by side. For the full account of one of them, see Profhilo in Singapore.
Neither, universally — they do different jobs. Profhilo (hybrid hyaluronic acid) suits dehydrated, dull, mildly lax skin; Rejuran (polynucleotides) suits damaged, textured, sensitive or post-acne skin. The right choice follows from what your skin lacks, which is what assessment establishes.
Profhilo hydrates directly — hyaluronic acid binds water — while stimulating collagen and elastin production as it disperses. Rejuran signals repair: its polynucleotides support fibroblast function and a calmer healing environment. Hydration versus repair is the cleanest one-line summary.
Profhilo: an initial pair of sessions a month apart, then periodic maintenance. Rejuran: a short series of sessions several weeks apart, then maintenance. Skipping the series and judging either on one session undersells both.
Yes, sequenced — they address different axes and combine rationally in skins that need both hydration and repair. But combination should be a ranked decision from assessment, not a default; often one axis clearly dominates and deserves the budget first.
No. Both disperse through the skin rather than holding shape — they cannot lift a cheek or define a chin. Structural volumisation is a separate discipline; these are skin-quality treatments. Clinics blurring that line are selling confusion.
The fine intradermal version is widely used for thin under-eye skin, and polynucleotide repair signalling suits post-inflammatory texture — these are exactly the 'damaged skin' briefs where PN belongs. Improvement is gradual across the series rather than dramatic overnight.
Both are maintained rather than permanent: Profhilo commonly on a roughly six-monthly rhythm after the initial pair, Rejuran with periodic top-ups after its series. Longevity varies with age, skin state, sun exposure and lifestyle — your maintenance interval emerges from your own response.
Purified polynucleotides are highly processed and well tolerated in studies and wide clinical use; fish allergy is discussed at assessment as a precaution. As with any injectable, technique and product authenticity matter — which is a clinic-choice question as much as a molecule question.
