A contour irregularity is an uneven surface after liposuction or fat grafting: ripples, ridges, a step between treated and untreated areas, a dent, or a lump. It is the most common contour complaint after facial fat grafting, and a recognised complication of liposuction.
An irregularity from excess (graft that took too well, residual fat) can be reduced; one from deficit (too much removed) needs support or volume, never more removal.
Fat grafting correction covers irregularities after fat transfer; loose skin after liposuction covers ripples, dents and residual fat after liposuction.
Often, once recovery has settled. Residual fat and laxity can be treated; a dent from over-removal needs a different, usually surgical, approach.
Excess living graft near the surface can be reduced gradually; firm lumps such as fat necrosis are managed differently.
