Patients increasingly ask for microliposuction for a heavy chin, the jowls, an overfilled fat graft or a pocket left after earlier liposuction. Microliposuction is surgery; Time Freeze Laser LCLR® works from the surface. They overlap in what they are aimed at, and differ in almost everything else.

Short answerMicroliposuction removes fat through fine cannulas and is regulated as liposuction in Singapore: MOH-accredited doctors only, in a hospital or approved surgical centre, with a seven-day cooling-off period. Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is applied from the surface with no cannula or anaesthesia; its lipo-remodelling arm reduces superficial fat, including excess grafted fat, over a planned series, while its collagen arm tightens. Dr Sin Yong uses Time Freeze first for superficial excess and refers for microliposuction when the excess is large, deep and stable.
Key facts
Microliposuction
Surgical removal of fat through fine cannulas
Time Freeze Laser LCLR®
Surface laser protocol: lipo-remodelling plus collagen tightening
Pick Time Freeze when
The excess is superficial, the skin also needs tightening, or surgery is not wanted
Pick microliposuction when
The excess is large, deep, well defined and stable
Not either
A hollow from over-removal, which needs support instead
Regulation
Microliposuction falls under the MOH liposuction framework

“Micro laser liposuction” is not the same thing

Micro laser liposuction usually means laser-assisted liposuction: a laser fibre is passed under the skin through a cannula to loosen fat before it is suctioned. It is invasive and regulated as liposuction. Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is applied from the surface. The overlap is in the word “laser”, not in the procedure.

How Dr Sin Yong decides

He starts with what the fullness is: fat, filler, grafted fat, or skin that has descended. Ultrasound shows what sits where and at what depth. Superficial excess, especially where the skin also needs tightening, goes to Time Freeze Laser LCLR® first, with VF Lift – Vertical Facelift added where lifting or contour is wanted. A large, deep, stable excess is better removed surgically, and he refers for microliposuction rather than offering a series that will not reach it.

For excess fat graft specifically, see fat grafting correction; for a pocket or laxity after earlier liposuction, see loose skin after liposuction.

“The first question is not which procedure. It is how much excess there is, how deep it sits, and whether it has stopped changing.”

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It is a surface laser protocol with no cannula, anaesthesia or incisions. Its lipo-remodelling arm acts on superficial fat, and its collagen arm tightens the skin.

For superficial excess, often; for a large, deep, stable excess, no. Dr Sin Yong says which applies after assessment and refers when surgery is the better tool.

Only in clinics approved as Ambulatory Surgical Centres for liposuction, or in hospitals, by MOH-accredited doctors.

Superficial excess graft is usually reduced first with Time Freeze Laser LCLR®; a large, stable excess may need microliposuction.
