Main guide Sculptra Singapore — what it treats, who it suits, sessions, downtime and what decides the cost, by Dr Sin Yong.

Straight after Sculptra the face can look fuller, because of the water the product is mixed with. That fullness fades within days, and the real change builds over months as collagen forms. Aftercare is mainly about spreading product evenly: massage as instructed, usually five minutes, five times a day, for five days, and watch for lumps you can feel.
| When | Expected | Do | Avoid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Same day | Swelling from the water in the mix; mild bruising | Cool compress; begin the massage routine as instructed | Alcohol; blood-thinning supplements |
| Days 1–5 | Swelling settles, face looks like before (the water has gone) | Massage 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days | Skipping the massage; pressing hard on one spot |
| Weeks 2–6 | Gradual change as collagen builds | Next session at 4–6 weeks if planned | Judging the result early |
| Months 3–6 | Full effect of the course | Review at 12 weeks with photographs | Adding filler on top before the review |
General guidance; the written aftercare you receive from the clinic takes precedence. Message +65 8023 7170 if anything on the red list above appears.
This table sets Sculptra aftercare out by phase: straight after injection while the water the product is mixed with is still in the tissue, the early phase when massage spreads the particles, and the settling phase while collagen forms around them. Each row lists what is expected, what to do, what to avoid and the signs that mean you should send a photograph or message.
| Phase | What is expected | What to do | What to avoid | Message or call if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Straight after | Fullness from the water component, which is not a guide to the result; swelling, tenderness and small bruises | Cool compresses for short periods; sleep with the head slightly raised; paracetamol if you can take it | Strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol; pressing on the area outside the massage pattern you were shown; judging the shape | A bruise that spreads; skin that turns white, dusky or mottled; severe or worsening pain |
| Early phase | The water fullness fades; the massage routine is under way | Massage as instructed, in the pattern and with the moisturiser shown before you leave; keep the technique the same on both sides | Skipping or shortening the massage; massaging areas you were told not to; facials, energy devices or other injectables over the area | Redness, heat or increasing pain over the treated area; fever; a lump that is tender |
| Settling | Gradual change as collagen forms; the next stage, if any, is planned at review rather than on a fixed date | Sunscreen daily; note when you first notice any small lump and send a photograph | Having the area treated elsewhere before review; expecting hyaluronidase to reverse it, which it cannot | A lump that is getting larger, hard or painful; a lump that appears much later; asymmetry that persists once swelling has gone |
What is assessed when a lump can be felt is on Sculptra lumps; the early phase is pictured on Sculptra downtime; how poly-L-lactic acid differs from the polycaprolactone in Ellansé is on Ellansé Singapore.

Swelling, tenderness and small bruises at injection points are expected. The fullness seen on the day is mostly water and fades within a few days, so it is not a guide to the final result. Apply cool compresses for short periods, avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for a day or two, and sleep with your head slightly raised.
Massage helps spread the poly-L-lactic acid particles evenly. The usual instruction is five minutes of firm, circular massage, five times a day, for five days, using a moisturiser. Your own instructions may differ by area, and some areas are not massaged. If you are travelling, the massage technique is shown before you leave.
Collagen formation is gradual, which is why Sculptra is usually given in stages several weeks apart and reviewed months later. If you feel a small lump, note when you first noticed it and send a photograph; the Sculptra lumps page explains what is assessed. Redness, heat and increasing pain are not expected and need to be seen.
Questions after treatment come back through WhatsApp at +65 8023 7170 during clinic hours (Monday to Friday 10am to 8pm, Saturday 11am to 3pm, Singapore time). Anything that is getting worse rather than better, a blister or open area, or fever needs to be seen the same day, wherever you are.
Massage the treated area for five minutes, five times a day, for five days, unless you have been given different instructions.
The product is mixed with water, which causes temporary fullness that fades within days.
Change builds gradually over months as collagen forms; it is reviewed at a planned interval.
A gap of about two to three days is usually planned so the massage routine and any early swelling can be checked.
