How a medical facial compares with other options by concern is set out under facial treatment in Singapore.
Published 31 October 2026 · Reviewed by Dr Sin Yong

Hydrafacial cost in Singapore is set by what the skin assessment finds: which boosters and serums suit the skin, whether LED light is added, how the acid step is adjusted, and whether the facial stands alone or supports another treatment. Singapore's rules restrict fee advertising, so no figure appears here. A written quote is given after a doctor has examined your skin on Orchard Road.

Singapore's rules on medical advertising restrict how doctors publish fees, and at a medical clinic the serums, acid strength and boosters in a Hydrafacial are chosen after the skin is examined, so a figure before that would describe a menu rather than your facial. A Hydrafacial uses a spiral-tip handpiece to loosen debris, draw it from the pores and apply serum in the same pass. It works in the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin, and maintains skin rather than changing its structure.
The device is the same at a spa and at a clinic; the difference is the assessment before it. A doctor checks for active acne, rosacea, recent retinoid or isotretinoin use and recent procedures, then sets out the plan and the quote in writing before treatment starts. Any consultation fee is stated when you book. The practice-wide rules are on how fees are quoted.
The boosters and serums chosen after assessment are the main variable in Hydrafacial cost, because they differ in what they contain and the skin they suit. The three core steps are the same wherever a genuine Hydrafacial is done; what changes is what is added to them and how they are set.

| Component | When it is used | Effect on the plan |
|---|---|---|
| Cleanse and peel | Every visit; a mild glycolic and salicylic acid solution applied and removed continuously | Reduced or left out for sensitive or reactive skin, or where an ingredient is not suitable |
| Extract and hydrate | Every visit; vortex suction draws debris from pores without squeezing | Adjusted for mild comedonal acne or irritation after shaving |
| Boosters and serums | Chosen for the skin's concerns, such as antioxidant and peptide blends, growth factor serums or brightening complexes | Selected after examination rather than from a menu; each is named on the quote |
| LED light | Sometimes added at the end | Optional; included only where it fits the plan |
| Pregnancy, breastfeeding or a known allergy | Ingredients reviewed first | Acid step and some serums changed or left out, or the facial not advised |
The serum and the device work as one step. A 2008 randomised study in 20 women compared hydradermabrasion with an antioxidant serum against the same serum applied by hand; biopsies showed changes in skin structure only where the device was used. Boosters are cosmetic serums, not medicines, and they are chosen for the skin in front of the doctor.
“A facial maintains skin; it does not change it. The quote should say which one you are paying for.”
Dr Sin YongOn how Hydrafacial is quoted
Dr Sin Yong uses Hydrafacial in three ways: on its own for congested, dull or dehydrated skin; as preparation before treatments such as RF microneedling or laser; and as calming, hydrating support after more intensive treatments, timed so the skin barrier has recovered. Where it is part of a wider plan, each treatment is itemised separately, and the timing of the facial is set by the other treatment rather than by a calendar.
Because a Hydrafacial works at the surface, its effect is maintenance rather than a lasting structural change. A 2024 imaging study of 8 volunteers with Fitzpatrick skin types II to V, using line-field confocal optical coherence tomography, found the outer layer of the skin thinned immediately after hydradermabrasion and was back to baseline thickness at two weeks, with a more even surface. That is why the plan, and the fee, describes maintenance honestly rather than as a course with a promised end point.
A Hydrafacial cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates the epidermis; it does not reach the dermis, so it is poor value for any concern that sits deeper. At consultation Dr Sin Yong says so rather than selling a facial for a concern it cannot reach, and the plan names the tool that can.
A consultation that ends with "not a facial, and here is why" is a normal outcome, and nothing is charged for a treatment that is not done.
Two Hydrafacial quotes can only be compared when the device, the serums and the person assessing the skin are named. Hydrafacial is a registered trademark of BeautyHealth, and some salons use the words hydra facial for hydrodermabrasion on other devices, where the solutions and suction differ. Before booking anywhere, it is reasonable to ask:
How Hydrafacial differs from a water peel and from crystal abrasion is set out on Hydrafacial vs Aquapeel vs microdermabrasion. Not on a quote at this practice: packages sold on the day, promotions, incentives for reviews or referrals, and add-ons the assessment does not support. Hydrafacial cost depends on the boosters and serums selected after skin assessment, whether LED light is added, how the acid step is set, and whether the facial is combined with laser or RF microneedling. A written quote is given after a doctor has examined the skin, before the facial begins.
A regular salon facial uses manual squeezing and a set menu of products. A medical Hydrafacial uses vortex suction, and the serums, acid strength and boosters are chosen after a doctor has examined the skin and checked for acne, rosacea, retinoid use and recent procedures. The difference lies in the assessment and the choices it leads to.
Yes. Boosters and serums, such as antioxidant and peptide blends, growth factor serums or brightening complexes, are the main variable in Hydrafacial cost. They are chosen for the skin after assessment rather than from a menu, and each is named on the written quote. Boosters are cosmetic serums, not medicines.
Not always. Hydrafacial is a registered trademark of BeautyHealth, and some salons use the words hydra facial for hydrodermabrasion on other devices, where the solutions and suction differ. Ask which device is used, which serums are included and who assesses the skin before comparing what you are offered.
No. A Hydrafacial works in the epidermis and does not treat acne scars, which sit in the dermis, and a facial that heats or irritates the skin can aggravate melasma. Dr Sin Yong says so at consultation and plans the treatment that reaches the concern, such as resurfacing or RF microneedling for scars after assessment.
It can. A Hydrafacial is sometimes used as preparation before RF microneedling or laser, or as calming support afterwards once the skin barrier has recovered. Each treatment in the plan is itemised separately, and the timing of the Hydrafacial is set by the other treatment rather than added as a package.
