Acne scar treatment cost Singapore searches want a number, and this page does not give one, because Singapore’s rules on medical advertising restrict price advertising and because no scar plan can be costed before the scars have been examined. What it gives instead is the honest version: the factors that move the fee at Dr Sin Yong’s practice, how the written plan is built, and how to compare quotes like for like. The method behind the plan is on the acne scar treatment Singapore page.

Short answerFive things set the fee for acne scar treatment here: which scar types are present, the area treated, whether subcision or TCA CROSS is needed before resurfacing, the number of sessions the depth calls for, and the review visits between stages. A written, itemised quote follows examination, never precedes it, and the consultation can end with no treatment advised. The pattern is set out on how fees are quoted.

Acne scar treatment cost Singapore: why there is no figure here

Two reasons, and both are honest ones. Singapore’s guidelines for medical advertising restrict how doctors may advertise prices, including ranges and “from” figures, and that rule applies identically to every licensed clinic. And a fee quoted before an examination is a price for a product, not a plan: the same words, acne scar treatment, can describe a few shallow boxcars on one cheek or a decade of mixed, tethered scarring across both, and those are not comparable pieces of work. What this practice publishes instead is the list of factors that move the fee, so that when the written quote arrives you can see what each line is for. The how fees are quoted page explains the pattern for every treatment; this page applies it to scars.

What determines the fee

The fee depends on the area treated, which methods the scar pattern calls for, the consumables or injectables used, the number of zones and whether methods are combined in one plan. A written quote follows examination, which also decides whether treatment is advised at all or acne should be controlled first. How quotes are set at this practice is on how we quote.

Factor one: which scar types are present

The plan follows the map. Ice-pick, boxcar and rolling scars are different structures and answer to different tools (Jacob 2001): TCA CROSS into ice-pick pits, subcision beneath tethered rolling scars, the S3 Resurfacing Lift or FSX Laser across boxcars by depth, intralesional injection into raised scars. A face that carries one type needs a plan with one part; most faces carry three, and the plan has three parts, each with its own consumables, time and recovery. This is the largest single reason two people with “acne scars” receive different quotes, and it is why the quote cannot be written until the scars have been graded under side light with the stretch test. The acne scar assessment page lists what is graded at that visit, and the acne scar treatment Singapore guide shows how each type is matched to a tool.

Four acne scar shapes and the method that fits Four side-by-side skin cross-sections. Ice-pick: a narrow, deep V, usually treated with TCA CROSS. Boxcar: a flat floor with sharp walls, usually FSX laser or S3 Resurfacing Lift. Rolling: a shallow wave tethered from below, where subcision comes first. Hypertrophic: raised above the surface, usually steroid injection or laser. Most faces carry a mix of shapes, so the plan is sequenced rather than chosen from one column.

Factor two: the area treated

A focused zone on one cheek is a different undertaking from both cheeks, the temples and the jaw, and a back is different again, because back skin heals on its own timetable and settings are chosen for it. The written quote names the zones proposed in plain language so you can see what is and is not included. Treating a smaller area well is a legitimate plan, and so is treating only the scars that bother you and leaving the rest alone; the map makes either choice visible.

Factor three: what has to happen before resurfacing

Resurfacing remodels skin in whatever position it finds it, so where scars are tethered the plan begins with subcision (Orentreich 1995), and where ice-pick pits dominate it includes TCA CROSS (Lee 2002), both before any laser. Where a released scar sits over lost volume, Radiesse is placed into the released space, and the amount of product used is itemised. Each of these is a separate stage with its own time, consumables and recovery, and a plan that needs release and support before resurfacing is a different plan from one that can go straight to the laser. This is also where quotes from different clinics most often diverge: a quote for “laser for acne scars” that skips release is cheaper because it leaves the tether in place, not because it is a better deal. The rolling scars page explains why energy alone fails on a tethered scar.

Factor four: the sessions the depth calls for

Depth decides the laser and the laser decides the course. Deep ice-pick and boxcar scars resurfaced with the S3 Resurfacing Lift are staged, each visit allowed to heal before the next is timed, and in Fitzpatrick III to V skin the pacing is set by the skin’s response rather than a calendar. Superficial scars on FSX Laser, with its shorter recovery than S3, follow a different course. RF microneedling on the Secret DUO, where it is staged, has its own. No fixed number of sessions is promised at the start, because collagen remodels gradually and the plan is adjusted to how your skin responds; what the written plan does is name the stages and say what each review will decide. The how many RF microneedling sessions article is the same logic applied to one method.

Factor five: the review visits

Reviews are part of the plan, not an extra. At each one the standardised photographs are compared, released scars are re-stretched, treated pits remapped and any early pigment change managed. The review decides whether the next stage goes ahead, is adjusted or waits, and it is where the plan is changed if a scar has responded more or less than expected. The written quote names the review visit that follows each stage and what is assessed at it, so you know before you start what the course includes.

How to compare quotes, and what is not a factor

Quotes are easiest to compare like for like: which scar types are being treated, with which methods, over how much skin, who performs each step, and what review and aftercare are included. A lower number may describe a different device, fewer passes, a therapist-performed session or a plan that skips release. What is not a factor at this practice is the badge on the machine; the fee follows the plan, not the device. Nor is the consultation a sales visit: it carries its own fee, stated when you book, is not offset against a package, does not oblige you to proceed and can end with no treatment advised or with a referral. No package is sold on the day and the quote can be taken home. What the visit involves is on the what a scar visit on Orchard Road involves page; what to check about any clinic is on the who treats acne scars in Singapore page; and every acne and scar guide on this site is indexed in one place. Every treatment in the plan is performed by Dr Sin Yong himself, so the quote reflects physician time, not a therapist’s.

Dr Sin YongOn how fees are quoted

Dr Sin Yong explains

I know a page about cost that gives no number is frustrating, so let me say what I can. The rules do not let me publish fees, and I would not want to before I have seen your skin, because the number would describe a product and not your scars. What I can promise is this: after I have graded every scar I write the plan down, stage by stage, with the zones, the consumables and the reviews, and the fee factors beside them. You take it home. If the honest plan is to wait, or to refer one scar to a plastic surgery specialist, the quote says that too. Comparing that document with another clinic’s is a fair comparison. Comparing a headline number with a plan is not.

Frequently Asked Questions

This site does not publish fees: Singapore's medical advertising rules restrict price advertising, and no scar plan can be costed before the scars are examined. The fee depends on which scar types are present, the area, whether subcision or TCA CROSS is needed before resurfacing, the sessions the depth calls for and the review visits. A written, itemised quote follows the consultation.

Because the plans differ. A quote for laser alone that skips release leaves a tether in place; a quote for a therapist-performed session is a different service from a doctor-performed one; a quote for one cheek is not a quote for a face. Compare which scar types are treated, with which methods, over how much skin, by whom, and what reviews are included.

No. The consultation is a medical visit and carries its own fee, stated when you book. It is not offset against a package and does not oblige you to proceed. It can end with a written plan, with advice to wait, or with a referral, and no package is sold on the day.

You can send photographs for a preliminary view, and the team will say which consultation to book. A quote is only written after Dr Sin Yong has examined the scars, because tethering is found by stretching the skin, depth by side light and pigment risk by examining it, none of which a photograph shows.

The fee follows the plan, not the badge on the machine. Depth decides the laser: FSX Laser for superficial scars, with a shorter recovery than S3, and the S3 Resurfacing Lift for deep ones. Each has its own course, consumables and reviews, and those appear as lines in the written quote; the device name on its own is not what moves the fee.

The treatment and zones proposed in plain language; the device or product named and the consumables; whether a combination is proposed and why; the review visit after each stage and what is assessed at it; and what is not included. Where an isolated scar needs a punch technique, the referral to a plastic surgery specialist is noted and costed by that team.

No treatment can honestly promise that. Acne scars are changes in the skin’s structure, and treatment aims to improve their depth, edges and texture. How much they improve depends on the scar types, how deep they are, your skin and the plan, which is why the scars are mapped first.

Old scars can still be treated. A scar that has been there for twenty years is mature and stable, which makes it predictable to plan for, but it cannot be erased. Tethered scars may need subcision, deep narrow pits TCA CROSS, and the surrounding surface resurfacing; the plan depends on what the examination shows.

Start by controlling active acne, because new breakouts make new scars. Then have the scars assessed by a doctor, since rolling, boxcar and ice pick scars need different tools: subcision for tethered scars, TCA CROSS for ice pick pits, and energy-based resurfacing such as the S3 Resurfacing Lift or FSX Laser for the surface. Most cheeks need a combination, planned in stages.
